Kabul (BNA) Public Health Ministry in collaboration with UNICEF and the World Health Organization, launched the first nationwide 2021 anti-polio vaccine campaign yesterday.
The campaign lasts for five days and aims to vaccinate 9.9 million children under five across the country.
By 2020, the total number of polio-positive cases had risen to 56, about 75 percent of which occurred in areas inaccessible to home-to-home polio vaccination campaigns.
Meanwhile, the director of public health of Jawzjan announced yesterday the registration of two positive cases of polio.
Currently, Afghanistan and Pakistan remain the two most polio endemic countries in the world.
