Afghanistan Expresses Solidarity With Palestine Over Recent Attacks

Kabul (BNA) Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar in a telephone conversation with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riaz al-Maliki, condemned the continuing attacks on Palestinians during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr days.

The Afghan Foreign Minister called the deadly attacks unacceptable to Islamic countries and peace-loving nations and called for an immediate end to violence in the region, a MoFA statement quoted yesterday.

FM Atmar convoyed President Ghani and Afghan nation’s deepest condolences to the Palestinian government and people, for the martyrdom of dozens of Palestinian civilians, including women and children.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted the solidarity of the Afghan people with the suffering people of Palestine and said that Afghanistan was committed to an independent state within the defined borders in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1967 and supports the legitimate right of the Palestinian people.

During the talks, Al-Maliki thanked the Foreign Minister for his sympathy and stressed the importance of the support of Islamic countries and peace-loving countries for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. FM Atmar invited Maliki to visit Afghanistan at an appropriate time.
