Afghanistan is a Land of Forgotten Treasures: Sharq

Kabul (BNA) Addressing a graduating ceremony at Art Directorate of Ministry of Information and Culture here in Kabul, the Deputy Minister of Publications, Abdul Manan Shiway Sharq congratulated the program organizers for arranging the capacity building programs, saying that Afghanistan was a land of forgotten treasures and that was needed to be explored and displayed.

“When you put your inner hidden treasures within a frame of art, you indeed display your success steps,” the minister told the graduates from different departments of Arts, assuring that his ministry in close coordination with relevant organs would do more to help equip the Art Directorate with essential facilities.

Pointing to beauties and hidden treasures of Afghanistan, Minister Sharq went on saying that the war-hit country was a land of forgotten treasures as well as unique talents, adding that if Afghans were given the opportunity to live in a peaceful atmosphere, the same as the first world countries, would surpass all the humanity with doing great works.

“I see creativity, art and voice in all of you,” Sharq told the audience, adding that the country would be soon balanced with other developed nations if peace restored and stability restored in the war-hit Afghanistan.

The deputy minister promised to ease exhibitions for the products of all the graduates of Mohammad Maimanagi department.

Meanwhile, addressing the ceremony, Art director Mohammad Hashem Shariq said his directorate was working within the framework of the Ministry of Information and Culture since 1972, adding that his directorate has two sub departments of Mohammad Maimanagi training center and the national art gallery.

“We are providing trainings in the areas of calligraphy, painting, miniature, tailoring, design and sculpture,” Shareq said, adding that there are 531 students at the center where 294 of which are female. He asked the ministry to financially and technically support their programs as well as provide them recruitment opportunities.

At the end of ceremony, the officials distributed certificates to the graduates and an exhibition of calligraphy, handcrafts and painting which was prepared by the students, was inaugurated by the deputy minister of publications.
