Afghanistan Players Arrive in Abu Dhabi for Ireland Series

Kabul (BNA) The Afghanistan cricket team have arrived in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night for a three-match ODI series against Ireland.

There was uncertainty over the series after Afghanistan faced visa issues due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

The Afghan Cricket Board were even contemplating to organise the series against Ireland in Oman.

But the visa issues were resolved and the team arrived in the UAE Capital.

“Fortunately, the UAE authorities granted visas to Afghan players and relevant officials,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Ireland will also play a four-match one-day series against the UAE, starting on January 8.

Afghanistan and Ireland are scheduled to play three one-day matches on January 21, 24 and 26 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The the Zayed Cricket Stadium will then host the T10 League from January 28 to February 6.
