Airstrike Targets Key Taliban Members in Faryab

Kabul (BNA) At least 21 Taliban including three key members of the group were killed in a special operation conducted by the Afghan security forces in Faryab province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to MoD, the group’s affiliated members were targeted by the Afghan Airforce and Afghan security members in a special operation in which 21 Taliban were killed and further 18 others were wounded in Almar and Qaisar districts of Faryab province.

The key Taliban members killed in this operation are Qari Sharif known as Shahram, Qari Mehrab is known as Rahimi, and Qari Maazullah.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

This comes as First Vice president Amrullah Saleh in an interview with France 24 said, that the Al-Qaeda network is actively working alongside the Taliban.
