Attack on Taliban Gatherings in Kandahar; Forty-Four Insurgents Killed

Kandahar (BNA) Forty-Four Taliban insurgents have been killed in the latest military offensive in Kandahar.

The Taliban reportedly gathered in Panjwai, Khakriz, Arghandab and Spin Boldak districts last night to prepare an attack on military checkpoints, which the security forces got information from attack based on intelligence information and targeted the Taliban from the ground and air.

The Army Corps’ media office in the south of the country said in a news release that forty-four militants were killed and fourteen others wounded in the attacks.

The corps confirmed that six Pakistani commanders and fighters were also among the dead.

According to another report, the security forces discovered and neutralized 30 roadside mines and prevented a series of explosions in the busiest places of Kandahar.

No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
