CE Discusses Northern Provinces’ Security With Elders, Dignitaries

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met yesterday with elders and dignitaries of the country’s north and discussed security situation of the provinces.
In the meeting attended also by minister of interior, acting minister of defense and acting director of national security, elders of Faryab, Jawzjan, Samangan and Sar-e-Pul provinces were facing with threats because of various problems and it was needed that the central government should pay full attention in this regard. Stressing also on improvement in security forces and equal deployment of the forces in most of their areas, the elders suggested this as necessary for improvement of security in their areas. According to elders of the respective provinces, the central government should pay attention to management of local police forces so that created problems in their areas would be addressed. They enumerated other proposals such as reforms in local government, giving chance to the respective provinces’ cadres in civil and military institutions and launching clearing operations under direct leadership of national security forces. After hearing proposals and demands of the respective provinces’ elders and briefings of security organs’ officials, the country’s chief executive praised the people of the Northern provinces or defending their areas in critical condition and suppressing terrorists.
