Counter-Terrorism Operation in Kandahar; Forty-Two Gunmen Killed

Kandahar (BNA) Forty-two Taliban members, including several Pakistani were killed in security forces operation in Kandahar.

The operation was launched with the participation of hundreds of troops and with the support of Air Force overnight in parts of Panjwai, Miynishin and Arghandab districts.

Forty-two insurgents, including several Pakistani members of the Taliban, were killed and eight others wounded in the military operation, Atal Corps in south of the country said in a news release.

Most of the Taliban were killed in air strikes.

Atal Army Corps said several Taliban hideouts were razed to the ground during the attacks.

According to another report, security forces prevented a series of explosions in Kandahar by detecting and neutralizing 35 roadside mines.

No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
