COVID-19: Afghanistan Extends Educational Institutions Closure

Kabul (BNA) Educational institutions holidays extended for another two weeks due to Coronavirus pandemic in 16 provinces including Kabul, officials at the Ministry of Public Health reported on Tuesday.
Ministry of Public Health to prevent the spread of third wave of COVID-19 have closed educational institutions in Kabul, Ghazni, Helmand, Kandahar, Logar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Parwan, Maidan/Wardak, Panjshir, Balkh, Laghman, Badakhshan, Kapisa, Kunduz and Nimroz province on 29 May till 12 June, but the period extended for another two weeks.
Osman Tahiri deputy spokesman for Ministry of Public Health told BNA correspondent, educational institutions (universities, schools and training courses) have extended for two weeks in the mentioned provinces.
Sport gymnasium, water pools and wedding halls has been closed for two weeks in the provinces as well, Tahiri added.
According to the Ministry of Public health, Afghanistan has so far recorded 82,326 COVID-19 cases, out of which 3,251 people have died as a result of the pandemic outbreak.
