Development in Society Depends on Culture and Art: Minister Zuhair

Kabul (BNA) The Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair said that development of the society depended to development of culture and art, Bakhtar News Agency reported Saturday.

In a gathering held at the Kabul Nandaray (theatre) to mark the World National Theater day, the message of the country’s president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, was read out by the Presidential Advisor to the Cultural Affairs, Mohammad Zarin Anzoor.

In the message, the country’s president congratulated the World National Theater Day and noted that during the Amani era, effective steps have been taken in the field of development of theater.

“War and insecurity have hindered development in the field of art, especially in the field of theater, but undoubtedly, the restoration of peace would pave ground for the development of art in the country,” the message read.

The country’s First Lady, through a video message, also congratulated the World Theater Day and said the theater art was from the exhibitory arts, which the artists can reach their special message of peace to the world people.

The Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair also congratulated the World Theater Day and provided information about the art’s background and said that this was a matter of concern that Afghanistan’s theater has not development as it had during the King Amanullah Khan era.

“Theater has officially been established during the King Amanullah, with no comparable to the current era,” said the acting minister as quoted by the agency.

The acting minister hoped that theater activities could develop in the current year, adding that the Ministry of Information and Culture has in mind to hold a meeting with the participation of the country’s culturists and artists to share their viewpoints on the development of theater in the country.
