Kabul (BNA) Armed Taliban has finally released a Russian pilot. Russian foreign ministry announced yesterday the pilot was handed over on Wednesday to the country’s embassy to Kabul.
In April of last year, a Russian civil helicopter landed in Azra of Logar province due to technical problems where the armed Taliban kidnapped the helicopter’s crew including eight Turkish, one Russian, one Kazak’s national, an Uzbek and two Afghans.
During the past one year, all kidnapers have been released except the Russian national.
The Russian national has been finally released after continuous efforts made by the Afghan and Russian officials.
The pilot is currently in the Russian embassy to Kabul and is determined to soon be handed over to his family in Russia.
