First Section For National Museum’s New Building Opened

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, minister of information and culture and US ambassador to Kabul opened first section of the national museum’s new building on Thursday.
In a ceremony, which was attended by Kabul mayor Mohammad Younis Nawandish, Shahzada Merwais, deputy ministers and officials for information and culture, a number of officials of various organizations, ambassadors of US, Canada, Australia to Kabul, representatives of NATO and UNESCO to Kabul and a number for foreign guests, Omara Khan Masoudi, head of Afghanistan national museum while welcoming the quests briefed related to construction work of the museum’s first section and said, “This section of the museum’s building which includes a wall, two doors including a door for VIPs with all necessary equipment has been constructed in one year by US embassy to Kabul.”
In the ceremony, Dr. Sayed Makhdom Raheen, minister of information and culture while praising US embassy to Kabul and international partners for funding the first section of the museum’s new building said, “After the museum sustained heavy damages during decades of war, ministry of information and culture and the museum’s colleagues have made their best efforts for the reconstruction of the museum,  fortunately as a result of their efforts during the past one decade, Afghan national museum has been renovated and reconstructed better than before.”
