15,000 Families Provided with Humanitarian Assistance in Four Provinces

KABUL (BNA) The World Food Programme (WFP) says it has provided food assistance to 15,135 families in Badakhshan, Helmand, Kapisa and Nuristan provinces over the past week.

The World Food Programme (WFP) office in Afghanistan said in a newsletter on Saturday that 3,000 families, including 21,000 people, had received food in the Khash district of Badakhshan province in the past week.

The agency added that during the survey, 6,235 families in Nawzad district of Helmand province, 3,900 families including 27,000 people in Kohistan district of Kapisa province and 2,000 families in Paroon city, the capital of Nuristan province, received food aid.

The World Food Programme (WFP) says a total of 18 million people in Afghanistan have benefited from humanitarian assistance.

The World Food Programme (WFP) has previously warned of a lack of funding and called on the international community to provide more funding to help all those in need in Afghanistan.
