House of People Summons Mines, Petroleum Minister

Kabul (BNA) Lower House of Parliament questioned yesterday minister of mines and petroleum related to modality of contracts of Ainak and Hajigak mines.
According to Lower House Press Office to BNA, in a session held under the chairmanship of speaker of the house, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, first lawmakers discussed on ending issue of working term of the house, asserting that according to the country’s constitution, working term of members of national assembly would be ended after holding parliamentary elections and declaring of the elections’ results; therefore, national assembly would have complete legality until holding parliamentary elections and declaring its results. According to the session’s agenda, minister of mines and petroleum Daud Shah Saba answered lawmakers’ questions related to modality of Ainak copper and Hajigak mines. Answering the lawmakers’ questions, minister of mines and petroleum while enumerating problems and defections in connection with mines in the country considered incomes from mines as insignificant, saying that incomes from mines in the country have reached to $ 14.5 million this year. Enumerating also problems in management and in legal and professional fields at the ministry of mines, Daud Shah Saba informed of necessary steps related to processing of Afghanistan marbles. Speaker of the house while accepting problems and challenges in the mines ministry added there were serious problems in contracts of mines in the country.
