Kabul (BNA) The UN secretary-general ‘s special representative for Afghanistan has congratulated the people of Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr, a statement from the UN Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (UNAMA) said on Saturday. “On behalf of the United Nations in Afghanistan, I wish all Afghans Eid Mubarak,” the statement quoted Tadamichi Yamamoto as saying. “As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid-al-Fitr after a month of fasting and worship, I hope that families around Afghanistan will be able to come together in peace, in an environment free of any fear and violence,” he said. He hoped the parties to the conflict may respect the time of reflection and tolerance and wished that the solidarity marked by this occasion would continue well into the future. He added this Eid may bring peace and stability in Afghanistan that all Afghans wanted and deserved it. The United Nations continued to stand along with the people of Afghanistan in their quest for stability and prosperity, the envoy said.
