Kabul (BNA) Poppy cultivation in Samangan province has reached to zero and in recognition of the achievement, the ministry for counter-narcotics has allocated $1 million to the province to encourage the farmers, Mohammad Daud Jawed the director of counter-narcotics in Samangan said.
Poppy cultivation in Samangan province, according to the official has been zero over the past six years and the province over the successive six years has received k$1million each year.
Meantime, the head of agriculture department in Samangan, Rafiullah Roshanzada said his department had bought 30 pieces of tractors and farmers are hopeful to reap better harvest.
