Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani participated and delivered speech in a ceremony held at Presidential Palace on the occasion of Afghanistan first exporting cargo delivery to China through Hairatan Port yesterday. According to BNA report, addressing the ceremony, President Ghani said: “Today I’m congratulating the start of changing process of Afghanistan from an importing country to an exporting one to all the people of Afghanistan”. “For the past 18 years, we had imported from other countries without having a principal plan of exports, which was intolerable. We’ve lost a large amount of foreign assistance provided by international community to Afghanistan in the past 18 years.
Today, it is a fundamental change for Afghan farmers in particular mine workers in who have exported Afghanistan talc abroad for the first time and I congratulate this big change to all,” President Ghani said. The country’s President said after Afghanistan started exporting pine nuts to foreign countries, its price has risen by 17 fold comparing to past years. “Now, nobody is cutting the pine nuts’ trees as its jungles are the country’s national asset and all want to protect from them,” President Ghani added. Pointing to the country’s talc, the country’s President said Afghanistan talc was trafficked in the past, but today neither talc nor pine nut were trafficked. Adding that Afghans now know the value of their products. President Ghani by considering role of private sector as important in the process said private sector, formers and orchardists are the real heroes of Afghanistan development. He said that Afghanistan should set a goal in connection with exporting its products abroad, saying that in coming four years the country’s balance for exports and imports should be kept, which is possible.
