National Security Forces Must Treat People Better Than Ever: President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, spoke this morning via video teleconference from Tawheed Center in ARG with Commanders of Army Corps and Brigades and provincial Chiefs of Police and NDS about the country’s security situation.
The President thanked the defense and security forces for successfully conducting the recent operations, and said that those who exhibited bravery and valor in these operations should be commended. The President said to the commanders and officers of the security forces to encourage their personnel to treat people better than ever. He added that he has received some information and complaints concerning mistreatment and harassment of people by certain personnel of the security forces during the operations in Kunduz Province. The President called harassment and mistreatment of people against laws of the land, international laws, human rights conventions and the code of conduct of the security and defense forces of the country, and urged the security officials to prevent such noncompliance and illegal acts. The President said: one of the main differences of the national security and defense forces from the irresponsible individuals is that the security and defense forces follow the laws of the land, international humanitarian laws and codes of conduct, and it is thanks to their good conduct that they create good reputation as well as an atmosphere of security and trust among the people.
