Contracts For Kajaki Dam Phase-II, Musa Qala Hydropower Plant & Zamindawar Canal Projects Signed

Kabul (BNA) Contract for 100 megawatt Kajaki Dam Phase-II, contract for purchasing electricity of the project and contract for Zamindawar Canal and Musa Qala hydropower dam were signed Monday evening in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at Presidential Palace.
In the signing ceremony of the respective contracts attended also by chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, first the contract for 100 megawatt Kajaki Dam Phase-II was signed by deputy minister of water and energy Mohammad Gul Khulmi and head of the 77 Construction Company Sulami Salif.
Afterwards, contract for purchasing electricity of the project was signed by head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) Eng. Amanullah Ghalib and head of the 77 Construction Company Sulami Salif.  The respective company will invest $175 million in this project which will be constructed, implemented and completed via public and private partnership for 20 years.
The project will be an enduring resource of the government’s income through taxes as Afghanistan government is to get $93 million incomes from taxes. Moreover, the project will provide lots of opportunities as jobs and enduring power for the people and enterprise, maintain budget deduction, develop businesses and domestic products and find lasting alternative for importing power and develop private sector investment in power sector.
Afterwards, another contract for Zamindawar Canal and Musa Qala hydropower dam was signed by minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock Nasir Ahmad Durani and head of the 77 Construction Company Sulami Salif.
By construction of the respective project, lots of facilities will be provided such as water, prevention from floods, power, agribusiness and jobs for the people.
