President Ghani Underlines Need For Security Sector Reforms

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during a security meeting at the presidential palace on Wednesday evening, which was also attended by Amrullah Saleh, the state minister for reforms in the security sector, and Tariq Shah Bahrami, acting defense minister, underlined the need for reforms in the security sector and evolving a coherent plan for the deployment of commanders to different parts of the country.
Besides wide-ranging ways of improving security, the merger of many reform boards into a single entity also came up for discussion, a brief statement from the presidential palace said. The meeting decided on developing a specific plan and policy for the promotion of senior security officers, their medical check-ups and deployment of commanders and officers to different areas of the country.
