Calligraphy, Painting Exhibition Opened On Occasion of Art Festivals

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, Minister of Information and Culture opened calligraphy and painting exhibition on the occasion of art festivals in Kabul.
Art festivals which are annually hold by the Ministry of Information and Culture were attended by advisors, directors and deputies’ Minister of Information and Culture, a number of lawmakers, ambassadors of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan to Kabul, a number of artists, cultural figures and foreign guests.
In the ceremony, Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, Minister of Information and Culture while opening the exhibition talking on the status of art and artists in present and past communities said, “Art festivals in our land and historic capital is a sign of respect to art and artists who have suffered much pains, humiliation and tortures but fortunately successfully overcome the problems.”
“During the history, our art had ups and downs and our art-loving nation have created such unique and outstanding artifacts that the history will remember forever.
During the period as we mentioned earlier the art and artists experienced much pains and difficulties, fortunately they let not only the art to be diminished but took it to its highest stages. Today our artists enjoy having the most valuable and excellent works on calligraphy, drawing, statue-making and new arts like theater and cinema,” Dr. Raheen added.
In the ceremony, representing Afghan artists, Saba Sahar spoke related to problems artists are facing with and said, “Artists can be broken with little affection have shown in our society. Therefore, it is necessary a situation to be provided for artists to enjoy a high status in the community.”
During the ceremony, appreciation letters were handed over by Minister of Information and Culture, Deputy Minister, Ambassadors of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to Kabul and officials to eligible artists.
