Pakistan To Release Other Afghan Taliban Prisoners

Kabul (BNA) Pakistani officials have declared they would release a number of Afghan Taliban from the country’s prisons.
Although Pakistan officials have not given further details, it is said those Afghan Taliban who are in Pakistan prisons are to be soon freed.
Freeing Afghan Taliban from Pakistan prisons is an Afghan idea and in a most recent progress, Afghanistan foreign affairs ministry spokesman has asked Pakistan to accelerate the process of releasing Afghan prisoners.
Recent decision of Pakistani officials might relate to the Afghan demand.
Freeing Afghan Taliban issue was put on discussion nearly seven years ago when HPC chairman had a formal trip to Islamabad and Pakistan government released nine Afghan Taliban on that time.
Anwarulhaq Mujadid, son of Mawlavi Mohammad Younus Khalis and Mulla Nooruddin Torabi, ex-minister for justice were among the released Taliban
Salahuddin Rabbani, chairman for High Peace Council had already emphasized that releasing Afghan Taliban was a key to peace process and encourage Taliban to negotiate with Afghan government.
Despite these efforts, Pakistan government has not yet taken measures to free that Afghan Taliban who could highly help the process.
Since Afghan officials started efforts for freeing the Afghan Taliban from Pakistan prisons, nearly 26 low-ranking Afghan Taliban have been freed so far, but more than 100 Taliban a number of whom are senior leaders are still in the military prisons of Pakistan and even some lost their lives in that country’s prisons.
Mulla Abdul Ghani Brother, who was the second-in-command of Taliban group, who was ready to negotiate with Afghan government, but detained by Pakistan intelligence service in Karachi and he has been behind the bars for more than three years.
Meanwhile, a number of other Afghan Taliban as Mulla Obaidullah Akhund and Mulla Yaser died in the prisons of Pakista.
It is been said that Pakistan military wanted the process to be under their control by keeping the Taliban detainees in their prisons.
