First Caricature Exhibition Held In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) In a joint cooperation with the “Goethe Institute” or German Cultural Center, the first caricature exhibition held in Kabul with the participation of some prominent caricaturists of the country.
“I am very happy after several decades of war, the cultural relations between Afghanistan and Germany revitalized,” head of Goethe Institute Thomas said.  “I am thankful to caricaturists take part in the exhibition and the Ministry of Information and Culture MoIC that provided us this venue for exhibition.” “The society where cartoon exhibition is held is in-fact a free society and such a society could select the bests,” head of the Goethe Institute further said. “More than 150 assets from 14 caricaturists have been displayed in the exhibition which is organized in joint cooperation with the Goethe Institute,” Nasir Ahmadi, one of the staffs of Goethe Institute said.
“The exhibition held for two weeks.” “The main purpose of the exhibition is increase the level of public awareness in the society and caricature has constructive role for the people in the society particularly in the media, this is the first caricature exhibition, the plan for holding this exhibition was undertaken in the beginning of 2014,” Ahmadi further said. “Besides holding exhibitions, Goethe Institute also cooperates in various sectors such as training programs, learning of German language, cultural fields, holding of workshops for further increase of awareness about the photography, and these programs are held during different seasons,” Ahmadi said. Meanwhile, a number of caricaturists participated in the exhibition welcomed holding of such exhibitions and expressed hope that such events are held in other fields as well in Afghanistan.
“holding of such exhibitions could be a good opportunity for those people who are associated with this field, because it gives a recognition to their assets and it will also provide us the fields to work on,” The Kabul Times and Afghanistan’s prominent caricaturist Sayed Hassan Samedi said.  “Caricature reflects the point which isn’t stated in a report, it criticizes on the issues which are ignored in the society,” Samedi further said. “For me caricature is an art which can bring smiles to the people in the society or persuade them to think about an issue.” Afghanistan is a country which has the biggest potentials in human resource sector. Investments on youths of the country could bring a scientific and art revolution in the country by nourishing the hidden talents.
