India to Cooperate with MoIC in Preservation of Ancient Sites

Kabul (BNA) India has expressed cooperation with the country's Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) to protect ancient sites, BNA reported on Tuesday.
During a meeting, the Indian embassy second secretary and deputy minister of cultural affairs, Prof. Mohammad Rasul Bawary discussed issues relating to the preservation of Afghanistan ancient sites, excavation of ancient sites and academic cooperation in the archeological areas, said the agency.
During the meeting the deputy minister shared information about the ancient sites in Balkh, Kapisa, Nangarhar provinces with the Indian diplomat and said in the said provinces there were stupas and historical monuments requiring restoration and rehabilitation, the agency quoted. The Indian embassy's second secretary assured Prof. Bawary to cooperate with the ministry in the rehabilitation and restoration of Afghanistan historical sites, the agency said.
According to another report, the deputy minister also met with the UNESCO cultural authority exchanging issues relating to the construction of a cultural and touristic park and restoration of Bamyan Buddha Statues and arranging a touristic plan in Bamyan province.
