Chief Executive Presides Over CM Meeting

Kabul (BNA) The chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah presided over the periodical meeting of the Council of Ministers (CoM) here yesterday.
In the outset of the meeting, the chief executive offered prayer for the departed soul of former first vice president, late Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim who died year ago and termed his death as a great loss for the nation. The chief executive also congratulated the Women’s International Day and said the rights of women won’t be victimized in the peace deal, saying no compromise would be made in the peace process to affect the achievements made over the past years. On the natural disaster hit the country recently, the chief executive said that the Salang Highway has been reopened to traffic and the roads leading to all districts of Panjshir are open. He also added the casualties of flood in Kumari district of Badghis province have yet to be determined and work for restoration of power to Kabul is going on and the problem would soon be solved. As per the agenda, the minister for interior presented his report about security situation in the country saying the security situation is better. However, he said that two terrorist incidents had claimed the lives of two persons in the 5th police district and the second one claimed the lives of some countrymen in attack on a Khanaqa, saying efforts are underway to bring to justice those behind the brutal murder. The acting minister of information and culture in his report said that excavation in Aynak area had led to recovery of more relics which are parts of the history of Afghanistan and dates to Buddhism civilization. In his report the acting minister warned of negative impact of copper extraction in the historic place and the danger of smuggling. Some of the relics, he said have been shifted to the national museum, saying it needs at least two years to complete the excavation work there, where national and international archeologists are working.  The acting minister of information and culture proposed construction of a museum in Jamal Agha of Logar as a solution to keeping the relics. The chief executive instructed the ministry of information and culture and the ministry of mines, in coordination with finance ministry after reviewing the issue submit their reports to the next meeting of CoM to take final decision.
