Kabul (BNA) No doubt, with existence of frank and different tendencies, the withdrawal of American troops means putting firewood to the flames of war.
Beside that whereas the rate of casualties has increased in Afghanistan, leaving this country alone would pave the way for US rivals that would not produce good consequences for this country and may cause prolongation of war in Afghanistan. It seems that neither full withdrawal of US forces nor their extensive presence is at the work agenda of American policy makers. Ex-commander of US forces in Afghanistan Gen. John. Campbell in his recent report to Senate Armed Forces Committee said Afghanistan is in a complicated situation. This country may be affected in scenario of a crisis that the US has not been faced with it. Campbell added, what may cause deterioration of situation is this that at present out of 407 rural districts in Afghanistan, 8 districts are ruled by Taliban as they have influenced 18 other districts. Beside that 94 district centers are threatened. In his report to US Senate Armed Forces Committee Gen. Campbell emphasized that the main program of the future presence of American troops in Afghanistan should be seriously revised.
Gen. Campbell explanation to Senate Armed Forces Committee is reflecting current situation of Afghanistan. As it is clear from the opinions, not talking with Taliban is against the opinion of Gen. Campbell, because this issue is connected to US military presence in Afghanistan. A question raises here that if Taliban are trying to occupy whole the country or would create threats to which Gen. Campbell has already touched, therefore the committee members would believe that why all of them should not attend the talks table. The increase of wars in the last four or five years in Afghanistan provided a proper opportunity to Pakistan. The US strategy shows that the goal behind talks with Taliban would not mean absolute withdrawal of US forces. Therefore, we can say that the goal behind talks with Taliban as far as concerning Americans is brining Taliban to a position to accept somehow the US presence in Afghanistan. The US authorities have emphasized on keeping of a number of bases in Afghanistan. According to current situation in Afghanistan, the number of the US troops in Afghanistan should be determined according to it not according to a timetable. An effective and small military presence in Afghanistan is very important to the US. The situation in the Middle East has made the US and its allies that leaving Afghanistan would remain profound impacts on them.
