Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Atiqullah Atifmal in an introductory meeting with US newly-appointed ambassador to Kabul Peter Michael McKinley while expressing happiness over his appointment as the new US ambassador to Kabul congratulated him the new post and responsibility.
Atifmal also wished the newly appointed US ambassador to Kabul success in his coming mission and praised the previous US ambassador to Kabul James Cunningham for his works, activities and achievements towards strengthening and extension of political and economic relations between Afghanistan and the United States. In his speech, Atifmal also praised US for its cooperation and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in various sectors and the US forces for their support and sacrifices in Afghanistan, adding that the people of Afghanistan would never forget support, cooperation and sacrifices of the United States of America.
Following, the newly appointed US ambassador to Kabul Peter Michael McKinley said, “I’m happy to have worked as deputy ambassador to Kabul for 15 months. It was a challenging time, but was good for me. I hope the US embassy to Kabul with close cooperation of Afghanistan’s MoFA fulfill responsibilities and affairs ahead in a better way. US committed to continued cooperation towards counter regional and international terrorism.” McKinley said that the US cooperation and financial assistance to Afghanistan would continue in various sectors.
