Nutrition Week With Breast Milk Commemorated In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) World week of nutrition with breast milk titled “Support from nutrition with Breast milk and help with mothers” was commemorated by the Ministry of Public Health here in Kabul.
Dr. Suraya Dalil, Minister of Public Health in a ceremony which was held for commemoration of world week of nutrition with breast milk said, “Nutrition with milk of mother is a foundation for health and growth of a child and is useful for health of mother too, adding nutrition with milk of mother guarantees the lives of infants during the first six months of the birth. During this period the infants should only feed with breast milk and after the six months up to two years the mothers should include other nutritious food to the diet of the child.
Dr. Dalil asserted complete nutrition with milk of mother can reduce child mortality rate from 13 to 20%. The Minister of Public Health said benefits of feeding infants with breast milk is not only limited to children but also the mothers take benefit from the process, adding that  nutrition with milk of mother is a good and important way for arrangement of pregnancy and 98% of mothers are protected from re-pregnancy up to six months.
In the ceremony, Dr. Arshid Qudos, a WHO representative to Afghanistan also spoke related to importance of nutrition with breast milk and saidbreast milk prevents children from mal-nutrition.
