Int’l Migrants Day Marked In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) International Emigration Day was celebrated yesterday in a ceremony held in Kabul with participation of government officials and political figures of the country.
In the ceremony held on this occasion, message of the country’s chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah was read out by cultural advisor to chief executive Sayed Fazil Sankcharaki.
In his message, the country’s chief executive said the International emigration Day was marked in the country amid widespread emigrations of Afghans to foreign countries; asserting that extremism was and violence have caused wide-spread emigrations of Afghans from their homeland to other countries.  Pointing to illegal emigrations, the country’s chief executive asked Afghan youth to prefer to stay in their country and avoid immigrating illegally to foreign countries, the message said.  In the ceremony, chief executive deputy Haji Mohammad Muhaqiq called emigration as a historic phenomenon, asserting that human was immigrating due to various reasons.  Afghanistan former President Hamid Karzai in his speech asked the country’s youth to avoid illegal and risky emigrations and prefer to stay in their country rather than Europe.  In the ceremony, minister of refugees and repatriates Alemi Balkhis spoke related to programs of the ministry and government of Afghanistan for voluntarily repatriation of Afghan emigrants, policy of repatriation, creating a repatriation committee and domestic committee for counter corruption.
