Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Independent Election Commission (IEC) chairman Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani and members of the body here at the Presidential Palace yesterday.
According to Presidential press office to BNA, on behalf of others, Nuristani in the meeting briefed the president about election commission readiness for holding parliamentary elections and the challenges lying ahead.
Later on, the president said, “I fully respect the election commission freedom” adding the election commission’s independence must be safeguarded. To solve the election problems, the president stressed for harmony between the people and the election commission.
However, the president said that reforms should be brought but it needs suitable time.
