8 People Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Trafficking in Baghlan

BAGHLAN (BNA) Anti-narcotics police in Baghlan arrested eight people on suspicion of drug trafficking in the province on Sunday.

Police spokesman Baghlan Police Mohammad Idris Shirzad told BNA, “these people were detained in several separate operations along the Pul-e-Khumri Highway in Kunduz and the Pul-e-Khumri Highway in Doshi, as well as from the outskirts of Baghlan central”

500 kilograms of cannabis, a kilogram of hemps and a quantity of heroin powder were discovered
from the detainees, he added.

Meanwhile, Mullah Mohammad Nabi Kamran, director of the anti-narcotics department at the Baghlan police headquarters, stressed the need to severly fight against smugglers, and drug dealers in Darbaghlan, and said that members of the anti-narcotics police were striving to prevent drugs are widely used in the markets to prevent addiction in society, especially among young people.

Anti-narcotics police arrested four people in connection with the smuggling of 12 kilograms of hemps, he said.
