KABUL (BNA) Two UN organizations, UNHCR and UNDP announced jointly working on 80 locations in Afghanistan to support and reintegration displaced people.
On Tuesday, a declaration issued by these two organizations United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) based on which they will work on these 80 designated areas throughout Afghanistan.
These 80 regions include 75 districts and five cities, according to the organizations released statement.
Afghanistan has witnessed the voluntary return of a significant number of internally displaced persons since the beginning of 2021, UN bodies stated.
A study conducted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees shows that about 1.23 million internally displaced people have returned voluntarily.
The two organizations, among the 1.2 million displaced persons who returned, more than 211 thousand of them include those who returned in 2022.
Since the beginning of this year, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has distributed aid to around 2.7 million people across Afghanistan in 80 regions, the declaration added.
