Calligraphy Exhibition Opened

Kabul (BNA) Exhibition of calligraphy artifacts was opened yesterday by Deputy Minister for Cultural Affairs of Information and Culture Ministry Syed Mosadiq Khalili in Timorshah mausoleum.
According to BNA, in opening ceremony of the exhibition held with participation of head of national archive Masouma Nazari, cultural in charge of Goethe Institute, Mohammad Ibrahim Hotak and a number of calligraphers artists and fans, Deputy Minister of Culture Affairs of Information and Culture Ministry, Sayed Musadiq Khalili while praising those holding the exhibition spoke related to past history of the calligraphy art and said, “In general, art and particularly calligraphy has old history in our country.”
“The art of writing started thousands years ago in our land from the period of Balkh messenger ‘Zoroaster’ by writing Awesta book on animals’ skin and has had particular and valuable position in all periods of the history,” Khalili added.
He said, “The art was further expanded in Islamic period particularly in Ghaznavi, Ghori and Timori periods, adding the calligraphy art added to architectural art we can see valuable remembrances from the period in top historic buildings particularly in Timori period.”
He asserted he was happy that good artists of the country were making efforts for keeping alive of the art despite challenges.  Khalili considered the opening exhibition as valuable step towards extension of the calligraphy art and respecting to art and artist, expressing hope that such kind of exhibitions be continued.
