Consultative Session Held for Preparations of Parliamentary, District Councils’ Elections

Kabul (BNA)  A consultative session attended by the country’s political and jihadi leaders and elders was held yesterday at presidential palace in particular for supporting the country’s security and defense forces, developments and preparations for holding parliamentary and districts councils’ elections.
In the session, the country’s President first asked members of selection committee to share modality of its executions and works with the participants in the session.
The president also requested that for further clearance of the process, members of the committee should brief the respective process to members of civil society organizations and all parties.
Javid Rashidi, head of the selection committee briefed modality of the committee’s executions and works, saying that they have fulfilled their jobs faithfully and with completely independence and particular technical standards.
He praised the country’s President, chief executive and all government officials and leaders for respecting the independence of the selection committee, adding that all works of the committee has been done in presence of media, civil society and national and international monitors.
Related to decision in connection with holding the exact time of parliamentary and district councils’ elections, chief executive said decisions in this regard based on law and in consideration to the country’s climate were the authorization of the election commission.
In the session, the country’s former President Hamid Karzai said that role of foreigners should be fully clarified in the election process and they should not participate in decisions and the process should only be Afghanized.
A jihadi leader, Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayaf said problems should be resolved by making use of previous lessons and experiences, they should be predicted measures and the process should be simplified so that the results of the elections would be soon declared.
In the session, second vice president Sarwar Danesh briefed related to the elections’ new law, saying that complaints in violation and crimes were the parts which were not existed in the previous elections’ law.
Praising participants in the session for their overall visions, the country’s President said all visions of the session should be collected and written.
President Ghani further said that the government was committed to holding the elections and visions and suggestions of elders should be collected for holding better elections in two phases: parliamentary and district councils’ elections and presidential elections and further discussions should be done in this regard in coming sessions.
