Wheat Smuggling to Pakistan ‌Curb

LASHKARGAH (BNA) Thousands of tons of Afghan wheat stopped being smuggled into Pakistan, said officials on Tuesday.

50 trucks loaded with wheat were reportedly discovered and stopped off the Kabul-Herat highway late on Monday, while trafficker strives to smuggle into Pakistan.

An official of Vashir Helmand district Qari Wahdat told BNA that the wheat was to be smuggled to Pakistan.

Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, wheat prices rise in world markets, and efforts to smuggle Afghan-produced wheat to neighboring countries have increased.

Afghanistan Ministry of Finance directed ports and customs to prevent wheat from leaving the country.
