A Gymnasium Worth 50m Afs put into Exploitation in Kandahar

KABUL (BNA) The National Olympic Committee (NOC) says a state gymnasium has been opened and delivered over to the province’s physical education department of Kandahar.

Physical education director of Kandahar, Mawlavi Abrar Ahmad Labib said the gymnasium worth 50 million afghanis, was built to support martial arts, basketball, and some other sports in the country.

“For the first time a standard gymnasium has been built and put into exploitation in Kandahar province, he added.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony, different martial arts sportsmen performed skills, and a friendly basketball match took place between two teams.

Athletes say lack of gymnasiums and sports infrastructure is one of the main problems for athletes, basically in the provinces and remote parts of the country.

Afghan athletes consecutively asked the government for building gymnasiums and standard sports grounds for the stable growth of sports across the country.
