Kabul (BNA) The recent statements of Husain Haqani the former Pakistan ambassador to Washington who has said that Pakistan did not want to be a friend of Afghanistan indicate that Pakistan does not honestly cooperate for restoration of stability in Afghanistan and in the region.
BNA commentator focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan relations writes, the recent former Pakistani ambassador to US once again unveiled the ill intentions of Pakistani authorities to Afghanistan. Haqani has said to an Indian paper that Pakistan does not want to be a friend of Afghan government but tries to impose a government according to its will in that country.
He argues that Pakistan interferes in Afghanistan because of the India’s influence in that country and Pakistan considers the India’s influence in Afghanistan a threat to itself.
What Mr. Haqani have said about the interference of Pakistan in domestic affairs of Afghanistan, earlier the Pakistani authorities one or another have confessed the interference of that country in Afghanistan and the officials of the countries that are directly involved in war against terrorism and extremism are suspected about Pakistan dealing with terrorism.
Many believe that Pakistan has never been honest against Afghanistan since its establishment and never been a good neighbor to Afghanistan.
The political history of Pakistan indicates that Pakistan always seeking its own privileges and wants nothing less than imposing a weak and a pro- Pakistani government to Afghan people in order to achieve its ambitious goals in the region.
The painful incidents of the last three decades in Afghanistan deeply linked to strategies of Pakistan in Afghanistan and in the region.  This country tries to force the world community to assess Afghanistan according to Pakistan’s strategy in the region a policy that demonstrates the ambitious and illegal objectives of that country in the region will never realize as it has failed in the past. What Mr. Haqani has said related to an old and failed strategy of that country.
Earlier to the statements of this Pakistan diplomat, the other authorities of that country have talked on the issue. These statements show how shamefully that country interferes in Afghanistan.  As Sartaj Aziz, the advisor of Pakistanis prime minister recently claimed that Pakistan would only cooperate in restoration of peace to Afghanistan and bringing Taliban to the negotiations table if that country reduces its relations with New Delhi at lower level or sever it. Besides, Sartaj Aziz , other Pakistani authorities including former dictator of that country Gen. Parwaiz Musharaf repeatedly, angrily reacted against the friendly relation between Kabul and New Delhi and considered the close relation between Afghanistan and India  as a threat to the national interests of Pakistan. However, Kabul and New Delhi consider the friendly cooperation between the countries to the benefit of the region and a step toward stability in south East Asia. The Afghan and Indian authorities explicitly have said that cooperation between the two countries never threat the interests of the third country.
Fortunately, some Pakistani diplomats are somewhat realistic. As Mr. Husain Haqani a Pakistani diplomat acknowledges that it is not realistic to expect Afghanistan to sever its relation with India, or expect Afghanistan to reject India’s aids.  Like, Sartaj Aziz other Pakistani politicians, Haji Adil, Esfandyar Wali and others have criticized Pakistan’s previous policies on Afghanistan and in light of the new situation want Pakistan to desist its interferences in domestic affairs of Afghanistan. It is reasonable move that originates from political wisdom.
The experiences have made clear that just by having ambitious goals, one cannot become the ruler of the destiny of others, but understanding the realities can solve the problems. Therefore, it would be to the benefit of Pakistani authorities to comprehend the realities and cooperate in restoration of peace and stability to Afghanistan because a stable and peaceful Afghanistan is to the benefit of Pakistan.  Considering these open facts, it requires Pakistani authorities to avoid supporting terrorist groups; otherwise, one day they will suffocate their patrons and supporters.   T.
