MoIC Committed To Protect, Promote Freedom of Expression

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) is committed to protect and protection freedom of expression in the country.
On 20th of April of current year, Journalists Without Borders issued a report related to modality of freedom of expression.
In the report, Afghanistan has got 120th position from 180 world countries. The government’s effort towards strengthening of freedom of expression, threats of armed groups and general problems have been mentioned in the report.
In previous reports of the organization, Afghanistan got 128th position in 2014 and 122nd position in 2015, while the country got 120th position this year, getting top position from neighboring and regional countries. Besides high media council, commission for mass media, commission for reviewing media violations and complaints and commission for access to information are working towards strengthening and supporting freedom of speech in the country. Beside mass media law, regulation for activities and establishment of private media is enforced, which has brought considerable facilities in media.
