Authorities Emphasize the Reopening of Balkh Silo factory

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) The authorities of the Balkh, silo factory demanded the attention of the Islamic Emirate for the reopening of the factory.

They mention that if the silo factory reopens, the Islamic Emirate could obtain the bread for the military and even civilian institutions.

With the sub-closed of factory, hundreds of employees have lost their jobs.

In the past decades, the factory supplied most of the bread for military and civilian institution, and its products were still available to the citizens in the markets. Now only the devices of this silo’s factory are left.

Balkh Silo’s factory started operating in the south of Mazar-e-Sharif in 1983 with the cooperation of the Soviet Union.

Mawlawi Javid Siddiqi, head of the Balkh the silo factory, told BNA that the silo had been supplying all the bread needs of government and civilian section in the north for years, but was now out of production due to technical problems.

He called on the Islamic Emirate to reopen this large bread factory by re-investing.

Engineer Mohammad Sadaq Saba, a consultant at the Balkh Silo Factory, says that in order to reopen the factory, a three-item plan has been proposed and submitted to senior government officials and for the Ministry of Agriculture.

He said that one million euros is needed to re-constructions of the factory.

Mohsen, in charge of the silo cooking department, also told BNA, that the bakery department of the silo factory is ready to operate. If the government provides us with facilities, we will be able to provide bread for military units in a short time.

Economic experts say, that the reopening of the Balkh silo factory has a positive impact on the country’s economy as well as provides jobs opportunity in the Balkh community.
