
KABUL (BNA) Acting Prime Minster of the Islamic Emirate and Deputy PM for Political Affairs, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, met with the Roza Otunbayeva Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and her accompanying delegation, at Arg.
Acting PM Mawlavi Kabir welcomed them and said that the continuation of the United Nations’ cooperation with Afghans is a good and positive step and the cooperation should be increased.
For her part, Mr. Otunbayeva said that the steps taken by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in regard to drug cultivation and trafficking were positive and useful, and the international community considers this work as an important and positive development.
“Our data through satellite shows that there is a considerable decrease in poppy cultivation”. she added.
The United Nations Special Representative for Afghanistan said that they have asked for more support from China and India for Afghan farmers.
