Afghan Athletes Donate Blood to Recent Quake Victims

KABUL (BNA) On the occasion of the Olympic international day, Afghan athletes and sports officials donated 60 thousand CCS of blood to the recent earthquake victims in Paktika, Paktia, and Khost provinces.

Mohammadullah Ehsas, head of physical education said that in the current situation where hundreds of people have suffered human and financial losses cause of the earthquake in the southeastern provinces, the athletes share their grief as a sensitive section of the society and fulfill their responsibility by donating blood.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the National Olympic Committee, Dad Mohammad Payanda, praised the athlete’s action and said the athletes are the ones who brings pride to a nation.

International Olympic Day is celebrated every year by launching competitions between cities’ athletes but this year the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan has decided to inspire the athletes to donate blood for the victims of the recent quake in the southeast of the country.
