Economic Development, Self-Sufficiency NUG Top Priority, VP

Kabul (BNA) Vice President Sarwar Danesh introduced yesterday designate minister for mines and petroleum Nargis Nehan to lawmakers in Lower House of parliament.
Vice president while praising former officials of mines and petroleum for their works considered Nargis Nehan as experienced, professional and brave personality, congratulating her for taking the new responsibility. Considering the country’s current situation as tenuous, second vice president asserted that the people of Afghanistan needed that axle of governance and public administrative would continue with speed, precision, transparency and full might so that they could fight various foreign and domestic challenges and find way for solution of current problems. “Afghanistan national unity government’s top priority is to reach economic development and national self-sufficiency”, Danesh asserted.
He considered the country’s mines as the only main assurance for reaching national self-sufficiency and economic development and stressed that strategic policy-making in ministry of mines would be possible only by expansion of human resources, implementation of comprehensive administrative reform programs, counter corruption in the ministry, investment of private sector as powerful arm in mines sector, modification and amendment of mines’ laws and overall national and government support and maintaining of security of mines as a national responsibility. Second vice president added that national unity government was determined to cut national traitors’ hands from Afghanistan mines through reforms and implementation of professional policies and protect natural heritages of the people of Afghanistan so that they got balanced development. Sarwar Danesh further said that works would soon start in the ministry, adding that institutionalization of reforms, modification of mines’ laws, implementation of administrative reforms, creating a professional procurement system, professional works in appointments and contracts would be basic priorities in the ministry of mines and petroleum.
