3,000 Afghan Citizens Return Home from Iran and Pakistan

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs reports that an additional 3,000 Afghan citizens have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan this past Saturday.
According to the Ministry’s statement, 1,477 Afghan immigrants returned from Iran via the Islam Qala border crossing on Saturday. Among these returnees, 140 individuals who required identification and assistance received support from the International Organization for Migration, which included both food and non-food items.
Furthermore, 40 orphaned children were referred to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to facilitate family reunification.
On March 1 and 2, 205 Afghan migrants returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham gateway, an unrecognized border crossing. After registering with the Migration Affairs Office, they were introduced to the UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration for further assistance.
