Afghanistan and Malaysia to Cooperate on Archival Preservation and Digitization

KABUL(BNA): Naqibullah Ahmadi, Charge d’Affaires of Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, met with Dato’ Jaafar Sidik, the Director General of the National Archives of Malaysia, at the office of the National Archives.

During the meeting, both sides provided information about the archives of their respective countries and discussed the initiation of cooperation.

In this meeting, Naqibullah Ahmadi, stated that Afghanistan has a rich ancient history spanning thousands of years. This country has witnessed various empires and civilizations, with historical, cultural, and civilizational artifacts from each era preserved in the National Archives of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Jaafar Sidik expressed hope for future bilateral cooperation with the National Archives of Afghanistan under Malaysia’s technical training program. This cooperation would include the training of experts, the exchange of systems, and collaboration in the digitization of documents.

It is worth mentioning that during the meeting, they reviewed various artifacts, writings, historical documents, diplomatic notes, and other items related to Afghanistan preserved in the National Archives of Malaysia.
