Pneumonia Vaccine Incorporated Into Children Vaccination List

Kabul (BNA) The pneumonia vaccine for the first time was injected into two children and has been introduced into the children vaccination list of Afghanistan in presence of President Hamid Karzai.
At the gathering held in the presidential palace, while representatives of the WHO, UNICEF and World Vaccine Coalition were present, Dr. Soraya Dalil Minister of Public Health in a speech explained incorporation of the pneumonia vaccine in the list of children in Afghanistan.
She stressed that today we are starting the pneumonia vaccine throughout Afghanistan that can give strength to the children against 13 types of bacteria.
Dr. Dalil added that implementation of this vaccine has been introduced into the list of children vaccines in the manner that during the year whenever the mothers refer their children to the health clinics they are given vaccine against 9 diseases one of them is pneumonia.
She stressed that Afghanistan should have complete two preconditions for incorporation into this vaccine, the first expansion and equipping of the center for preserving the vaccine and the participation of the government of Afghanistan for purchasing and financing of the vaccine and the government completed both these conditions.
Addressing the gathering President Karzai said that he is pleased that another measure is taken today for the health of the people especially the soundness of children in the country.
Thanking the WHO and other foundations for their cooperation in this respect he added that applying of this vaccine is a good measure for the health of children of Afghanistan. It should be noted that the pneumonia vaccine has been introduced into the children vaccine list with the cooperation of World Vaccine Coalition, WHO and UNICEF and hereafter this vaccine will be given to the children under one year in all health facilities in the center and provinces free of charge.
