Kabul (BNA) International Press Day celebrates in Afghanistan while the law on access to media is enforcing in the country and the Monitoring Commission of the press is established.
BNA judicial affairs analyst commenting on the issue writes establishment and enforcement of monitoring commission for press is good news for media working staff and guarantees that the people who ignore this basic right of people cannot bar the public from access to media any more.
In the country where there is a will for demonstrating democracy, access to media is the right of people, because it is the right of people to know what are the authorities of their country doing and what is their decision about the destiny of their country? What are the Civic, cultural and social organizations are doing, how is the security situation in the country? Without doubt, Afghanistan is walking alongside the countries where there are will for exercising democracy and leadership of our country is committed to provide the ground for the people to have access to media without any barriers.
Although there are such strong commitments still Afghan people are suffering from certain problems and barriers in using media, such escaping from the law that causes the concern of media people.
There is a hope; state owned organs that each of them has their own spokesperson could help in removing the concerns and support media in informing people.
On the other hand, it is not only state owned organs that have the obligation of providing information to the people via media but also the way they receive information is a matter, should be focus on.  They should move on right direction of national interests, national unity, and psychological and moral safety of people. In such a situation, one can be the witness of media’s precise activities and efforts that can meet the true desires of the people.
