29 Kalashnikovs Seized From Car In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) Police recovered 29 Kalashnikovs from a vehicle during a search operation in the capital Kabul, while two civilians lost their lives to a roadside bombing in northern Balkh province, officials said on Saturday. 
The 101st Asmaee police zone in Kabul said the assault rifles were seized in the 10th police district on Saturday and the car’s driver arrested. 
In a statement, police said a number of suspected militants were also detained in various parts of the capital over the past 24 hours. 
In Balkh, a roadside bomb blast ripped through a joint patrol of Afghan and foreign troops in Chamtal district a day earlier the ISAF media office in the north said. 
The joint force suffered no casualties in the attack that occurred in the Muqran area, but two passerby were killed, the force said in a statement. 
Residents confirmed the blast, but police expressed unawareness.  Elsewhere, two suspected militants who wanted to place bombs inside the graves of recently killed policemen were arrested in the Shah Joi district of southern Zabul province. 
The town’s administrative head said after the arrests on Friday afternoon, police found a bomb planted on one of the graves. 
The policemen had been killed in clashes with insurgents, Mohammad Sadiq said. 
In Kandahar, intelligence officials detained a suspect in connection with the assassination of former Panjwai district chief. 
Fazlul Din Agha was killed along with two of his sons and as many guards in a suicide attack six months ago in Kandahar city.
