Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on the advent of the International Day for the elimination of violence against women said, violence against women were still common in the society, due to growing war and ignorance.
According to BNA report, “Women were still burning in the fire of violence and injustice from beating to forced marriage and from deprivation of education to rejection of legacy, while no one is better than others, under the holy Islamic teachings,” said the President requiring serious campaign against. Although, war and ignorance has extended the live of violence against women in Afghanistan, but fortunately, approval of anti-violence law, public awareness and growth of literacy and most importantly the country’s constitution have provided ground for paying attention to the women human rights, said the President. The President went on as saying; “Since peace efforts are being accelerated, the possibility of Afghanistan’s getting rid of the imposed war is increased, so fighting violence against women is needed further than ever.” According to the President, peace restoration in the country, would help pay more attention to the women rights and lasting peace in the society would be impossible unless the women rights were paid more attention. This is the government, religious scholars, civil society and the campaigners of rights and justice joint responsibility to continue their Islamic and human efforts to end violence against women.
