University Lecturers: Allocating Afghanistan’s Foreign Exchange Reserves Means Robbery

Kabul (BNA) University lecturers today at a meeting at the Information and Media Center of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, issued a resolution calling the recent decision of US President Joe Biden on the foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan an irresponsible and unfair act.

The Information and Media Center of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said in a press release that Afghanistan’s university lecturers, in response to the US President’s decision, strongly condemned, and called theft, oppression and aggression against the people of Afghanistan.

The resolution states that the Central Bank of Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves are for the purpose of stabilizing the currency and maintaining the balance of payments and facilitating international trade, so its use is for humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and compensation for the victims of 9/11. It is a just step towards the collapse of the country’s economic structure and the punishment of the Afghanistan’s people.

The resolution added that the United States and its allies have invaded Afghanistan over the past 20 years under various pretexts, occupying Afghanistan’s land and space, killing thousands of innocent Afghans and leaving millions disabled, displaced, homeless and imprisoned. According to international law, these acts are war crimes and the United States and its allies must compensate the people of Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s university lecturers in the resolution called on the World Trade Organization and its members to stop openly encroaching on the foreign exchange reserves of Afghanistan Central Bank, which is also a member of the organization, and to preserve the WTO’s global reputation and status.

The resolution also called on the international community, international organizations, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, human rights organizations, US citizens and Afghan citizens at home and abroad not to remain silent in the face of this “injustice”.

Recently, US President Joe Biden issued a verdict allocating $3.5 billion of the Afghanistan’s Central Bank $7 billion in foreign exchange reserves as compensation to the families of 9/11 and another $3.5 billion in humanitarian aid. Allocated to the people of Afghanistan.
