Pistachio Forest to be Restored in Badghis

Qala-e-Naw (BNA) The restoration work of more than a thousand hectares of pistachio forest in Badghis has begun, BNA reported.
The provincial agriculture, irrigation and livestock of the province to restore eight hundred hectares of pistachio forest in Abkamri district and five hundred hectares of grasses in Qadas district of the province, according to the agency.
“Badghis was one of Afghanistan’s leading provinces in terms of pistachio production in the past,” he added.  “We are now trying to restore Badghis status among the high-yielding pistachio provinces,” a provincial official of agriculture, irrigation and livestock of the province said to the agency.
He added that along with restoration of Badghis pistachio forests, the ground would be paved for exporting these yields to the world markets.
